Thailand 2020 Intensive & Advanced Training ➡️January 6-19, 2020

Our Intensive and Advanced Training is unique because our students get to create their own personal acrobatics adventure. Classes for both the Intensive and Advanced Intensive will run simultaneously. Higher level offerings will have separate pre-requisites that will need to be met in order to participate in the class.

Points of contact.
How often do we think about where and how we can support each other when practicing acro?
⬇️⬇️⬇️
Most of the time as we're learning new skills we tend to only focus on technique. Some of us maybe obsessing over every little detail even to a fault.
We believe that connecting with your partner is a huge part of having success when practicing. Knowing when and how to adapt something and make it your own. We can help ourselves do this by observing our points of contact.
Just a couple things to think about.
1) Can I give more or less tension?
2) As a base, where can I offer more or less support?
3) As a flyer, how can I shift my weight to make things more accessible to my base
Exploring these concepts can add a lot of insight to the ways in which we can improve our practice.
So be safe, have fun and remember sometimes it's nice to give your mind and break and focus on flowing with your partner. 🙃

There are moments where all the technique in the world is meaningless if you can't overcome the fear you have in order to use it. We think there's a lot to say about the mental block. A mindset that keeps us from being able to feel a trick let alone actually do it successfully.
Being afraid is ok.
Hell it's completely normal, especially under the circumstances that you're being thrown high off the ground trusting that you'll be caught or at the very least kept safe.
This might resonate the most with all of you control freaks out there in that letting go and trusting the process can be really hard.
We have to remember that this is a skill that we need to practice.
The practice of letting go can become one of our greatest strengths as athletes.
Learning how to trust your partner, your spotters but most importantly yourself can completely change the way we practice.
So let go of a mindset that says "I can't" and start believing that you can.
Cause we sure as hell believe in you. 😘

We love this quote not just because it's true but because it rhymes!
And when things that are true rhyme, people tend to remember them.

Let's think about how this concept helps both the base and the flyer.
1) When flyers engage more in poses that require bases to provide some balance, it becomes easier for the base to better support the flyer.
2) In a move such as croc, it becomes easier for the flyer to support themselves when they engage their core and legs and then use that engagement to help lift themselves up off the point of contact.
3) Chances are that both the base and the flyer can always engage more to help make a move feel easier.
So next time you're practicing a skill, try thinking about this idea of "tight is light" and see if engaging more of your body helps or not.
If it doesn't help then just tell people you read it on the internet.
